From a young age,
Skywalker knew his path would wind to the world of broadcasting. His childhood years were spent on Long Island, listening to the radio and eagerly waiting for his turn to be that voice. Today, he can proudly say that his daydreams have been realized after 21 years as an on-air personality. Sky (as his friends and loyal fans call him), a resident of the New York City suburbs, lives and breathes radio, entertainment, music, and community.
In 2015, Skywalker reached the pinnacle of his broadcast career by joining CBS Radio and 92.3 AMP in the largest market in the country: New York City. In 2019, he achieved another career milestone by joining the staff of heritage WPLJ New York. Skywalker’s greatest professional achievement is his show on WSPK K104.7, the #1 most listened-to radio station in the Hudson Valley for the past 20 years. Sky’s interactive broadcast plays today’s hit music, reports on pop culture and entertainment news, holds games and contests, and offers traffic updates to daily commuters on their drive home. Sky has taken his show on the road to Times Square and MTV’s TRL studio.
With a listenership of over 7.2 million people in eight markets, Sky reaches the masses and has gained loyal followers. Thanks to a college internship, Sky started on the radio as a weekend DJ for WBLI Long Island. After moving to New London, CT, he worked nights on WQGN Q105. Currently, his radio work includes WSPK NY in Dutchess, Orange, Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties in New York; alternative music on WMRQ in Hartford, CT; country music on WZMR 104.9 The Cat in Albany, NY; classic rock on WBPM in Kingston, NY; and pop on WBMX in Boston, WZRT Z97.1 in Rutland, VT, WWRX in New London, CT, and KQID in Lake Charles, LA. His current affiliates include Z107.3 in Wisconsin, Rock 93.7 in Tennessee, and 93.7 The Dude in Wilmington, NC.
Radio exposure has led Sky to attend and cover large-scale events, including the MTV Music Awards in Las Vegas and Miami, the GRAMMY Awards in New York, the NFL Kickoff Live from Times Square, and numerous movie premieres. He’s also interviewed entertainment icons Jimmy Fallon, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Adam Levine.
Sky’s pop culture and 845-focused column “Skywriting” appeared weekly in Orange County’s Times Herald-Record. He also teaches Television and Radio Production at Orange County Community College. Through his company, Sky Sky Media, Skywalker offers multiple broadcast solutions, including on-air personalities, remote voice tracking, digital production, and talent coaching.
Skywalker gives back to his community through involvement with local public schools, Autism Speaks, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. When Sky isn’t on air, teaching, or writing, he can be found exploring his inner epicure at local restaurants, strolling the streets of Manhattan, or rooting for his beloved Yankees.
